M. Ghidini et al., MAGNETIC PROCESSES IN AMORPHOUS YCO2 NANOPARTICLES OBTAINED BY HEAVY-ION IRRADIATION, Journal of magnetism and magnetic materials, 144, 1995, pp. 483-484
Elongated ferromagnetic amorphous nanoparticles, with an average diame
ter of 25 Angstrom have been created by heavy ion irradiation of param
agnetic crystalline YCo2 thin films. As expected in such elongated par
ticles, a perpendicular shape anisotropy is observed. The anisotropy f
ield decreases as the fluences increases, as a result of the onset of
dipolar interactions between the nanoparticles.
