Using an integrated laser/electroabsorption medulator transmitter, a r
emotely pumped postamplifier and a remotely pumped preamplifier, a rep
eaterless transmission distance of 407 km over nondispersion shifted f
iber is achieved at 2.5 Gbit/s, This experiment takes full advantage o
f high power 1 480 nm pump laser diode modules through optimized remot
e pumping configurations and benefits from the good behavior of the el
ectroabsorption modulator transmitted waveform in presence of fiber no
nlinearity and chromatic dispersion.
