Abstract
Welding Al-Zn-Mg alloy is carried out by continuous and pulsed current MIG welding processes. The geometry of the weld is characterized by t he ratio (r) of root to top widths ol the welds. The influence of puls e parameters on r is studied. The tensile properties of the joint, imp act toughness of the weld and the micro-shear strength of the weld and HAZ are studied and correlated with r. The micro-shear strength of th e top and root regions of the weld is also studied. The properties of the weldments prepared by using the pulse and continuous currents are compared.
