Abstract
The dynamic response of a parallel plate heat exchanger to a step inpu t of the hot fluid temperature is studied and evaluated. The temperatu re profiles along the channels and in the outlets are simulated by usi ng a 'Cinematic Model'. The experimental and numerical results for bot h dynamic and steady - state temperature profiles are compared and a g eneral computer program based on finite differences is introduced for all kinds of PHEs. The applied PHE is a 5-plate, 2-fluid looped U-flow heat exchanger, in which the fluids in adjacent channels flow in a co unter-current direction.
