A. Barletta et E. Zanchini, STEADY PERIODIC HEAT-TRANSFER IN A FLAT-PLATE CONDUCTOR CARRYING AN ALTERNATING ELECTRIC-CURRENT, International communications in heat and mass transfer, 22(2), 1995, pp. 241-250
The heat transfer within a flat plate electric conductor crossed by an
alternating electric current is analysed. The power generated per uni
t volume within the conductor is determined by taking into account the
skin effect An analytic expression of the dimensionless temperature d
istribution within the plate in steady periodic regime is obtained. It
is shown that, as the frequency of the electric current increases, th
e amplitude of the temperature oscillations tends to zero very rapidly
and the time averaged temperature distribution tends to become unifor
m.
