Abstract
Oxidation of enethiolizable dithioesters with mCPBA affords the corres ponding sulfines (thiocarbonyl S-oxides) quantitatively, with a high c hemoselectivity. This reaction is (E) stereoselective : delivery of th e oxygen proceeds from the side opposite the alkylthio group. The ther mal stabilities of these new molecules have been evaluated. The compet itive oxidation of various thiocarbonyl compounds has been examined.
