Abstract
Lupenyl acetate when treated with m-chloroperbenzoic acid in moist chl oroform for 5 hr at 0-degree furnishes 3beta-acetoxy-30-norlupan-20-on e (3), 3beta-acetoxy-30-hydroxylup-20(29)-ene (4) and 3beta-acetoxy-20 -hydroxylupan-29-al (5). Products 3 and 4 are the corresponding 3beta- acetates of the naturally occuring 30-norlupan-3beta-ol-20-one and lup -20(29)-ene-3beta-30-diol.
