In HTS-conductors like YBa2Cu3O6.51+x and DyBa2Cu3O6.5+x, current flow
s in the basal planes of the Cu-O-Pyramids of the crystal structure (w
hich are parallell to the crystallographic a,b-planes) and along the c
rystallographic b-axis (the so-called chains). In a conductor, these s
uperconducting planes and directions must be aligned parallel to the d
esired current direction. Thus, the superconductor needs to be texture
d. In this paper, a three-step-process is presented for texturing poly
crystalline YBa2CuO6.5+x and DyBa2Cu3O6.5+x on silver. The highest cri
tical transport current densities, i(ct), up to date are 6360 A/cm2 fo
r YBa2Cu3O6.5+x and 5070 A/cm2 for DyBa2Cu3O6.5+x at 77 K and O T. In
order to achieve still higher critical current densities, the degree o
f texturing must be increased.
