Abstract
A simple, inexpensive high yield method for preparation of echinatin a nd licochalcone C is described. Echinatin inhibits the growth of Leish mania parasites in concentrations, in which the proliferation of lymph ocytes is only slightly affected, indicating that the compound might b e used for treatment of leishmaniasis.
