A study has been made of the hydrogen peroxide oxidation of sulphur co
mpounds in diesel fraction and also a sulphoxide concentrate to sulpho
nes under foam-emulsion conditions in the presence of acids. It has be
en established that, when a mixture of sulphuric and acetic acids is u
sed, the sulphone content of the oxidate is higher than in the presenc
e of each of the acids separately. It has been shown that, with the fo
am-emulsion oxidation of sulphoxide concentrate, the duration of the r
eaction is shortened by a factor of 20 and the viscosity of the sulpho
nes produced is lower by comparison with oxidation in a reactor with a
mechanical stirrer.
