We present the parallel computation of a combustion model with a two s
teps sequential reaction mechanism. Our main interest is the study of
pattern formation, bifurcations and nonlinear interactions between the
two chemical reactions; The combustion occurs in a frontal regime tha
t leads to intense computation. We show how to match to the frontal st
ructure of the problem an adaptive domain decomposition of the PDE, an
d we construct a massively parallel algorithm. The algorithm has been
implemented with high efficiency on the hypercube iPSC/860 and the Par
agon by overlapping communications and computations.
