M. Strozik et al., DETERMINATION OF TRACE HEAVY-METALS BY FLOW-INJECTION ANALYSIS WITH ADSORPTIVE STRIPPING VOLTAMMETRIC DETECTION, Chemia Analityczna, 40(1), 1995, pp. 1-12
The adsorption of heavy metal complexes with 8-hydroxyquinoline at a h
anging mercury drop electrode was used For determination of lead and c
admium traces in the Row injection system. The best results were obtai
ned in 0.01 mol l(-1) ammonia buffer of pH 9.5. The optimal concentrat
ion of oxine differs for lead a nd cadmium. Selection of the proper ti
me for starting deposition and stripping allowed to obtain the signal
practically independent of flow rate. For 200 mu l samples the respons
e was linear over the entire examined concentration range. The detecti
on limits were 1 nmol l(-1) for Cd and 5 nmol l(-1) for Pb. Possible i
nterferences as well as conditioning of the system are also discussed.
Examples of determinations in river water are presented.
