Abstract
The expansion of the range of the Cattle Egret Bulbulcus ibis from its origins in tropical Africa and Asia to Europe, the Americas and Austr alasia are summarised, and implications of research in Australasia bas ed on birds marked with patagial tags on the spread of the species dis cussed.
