Abstract
Addition of perfluoroctyl iodide to the double bonds of vinyltrimethyl silane and 1,3-divinyltetramethyldisiloxane, followed by a reduction o f the carbon-iodide bond. gives the corresponding C8F17CH2CH(2)Si= moi ety. Following this approach. [C8F17-CH2CH2-Si(Me)O](4) a precursor of highly fluorinated silicones, was conveniently prepared, without usin g hydrosilylation or Grignard reaction.
