Abstract
One of the simplest systems a limnologist can study is the periodical
variations in areal extent of lakes. This system may be represented in
a single difference equation X(t+1) = lambda X(t)(1-X(t)). Based on t
his equation, logistic maps have been constructed to predict the size
of changing areal extent of water and marsh in the Chilka lake.
