ROTATIONALLY RESOLVED SPECTRA OF 1620-GEOGRAPHOS

We present CCD spectra (0.54-0.98 mu m) as a function of rotational ph ase of the Clementine target 1620 Geographos, We confirm the asteroid' s S-type taxonomic classification (more precisely, SII-Sm). The surfac e mineral assemblage appears to be a metal and pyroxene/olivine mixtur e. Though our spectral observations sampled the rotational lightcurve well, we were unable to detect significant color variations across the surface of the asteroid. (C) 1995 Academic Press, Inc.
