Abstract
alpha,omega-Dialkyl-substituted linear polyenes are synthesized in goo d yields by the palladium-catalyzed coupling reaction of trialkyltin- and iodo-substituted olefinic precursors. Central building blocks are the distannylated butadiene 8 and vinyl iodide 3. Our synthetic strate gy was successfully applied to the preparation of the tert-butyl polye nes 13, 14, and 15 as well as polyenes 25 and 26 with longer alpha, om ega-dialkyl chains.
