Gb. Oguntimein et al., SYNTHESIS OF GERANIOL ESTERS IN A SOLVENT-FREE SYSTEM CATALYZED BY CANDIDA-ANTARCTICA LIPASE, Biotechnology letters, 17(1), 1995, pp. 77-82
Candida antarctica lipase was investigated for the synthesis of short
chain fatty acid esters of geraniol in a solvent-free system. Maximal
activity occurred at 60 degrees C. High yields (about 100%) were obtai
ned with propionate and butyrate, while acetate showed much lower reac
tivity. The enzyme was used in four consecutive batch reactions with o
nly a 10% loss of activity.
