Abstract
Purpose of process models for cold-rolling mills. Process model comput ing rolling forces and rolling torques according to the method propose d by Ford, Ellis and Bland. Expansion of this model to include a descr iption of the material behaviour, friction coefficient, and thermal co nditions. Calculation of drive system parameters and rolling schedule data. Use of the model to verify existing rolling schedules, generate new rolling schedules, and improve the rolling schedules of reversing stands and tandem mills. Adaptation of the model on a ''coil-to-coil'' basis and over extended rolling times. Discussion of a pass-to-pass a daptation of the model. Examples of rolling schedules determined for a 6-high reversing stand and a 5-stand tandem mill.
