A robust finite element model is employed to study the viscous sinteri
ng of three-dimensional, axisymmetric particles from several initial c
onfigurations. Particle shape evolution and flow fields are presented
which yield new insight into the behavior of these systems. The effect
s of the initial particle size distribution and configuration are cons
idered. Model predictions are validated by direct comparisons with exp
erimental measurements.
