Abstract
A simple adjustment of the ''Lang and Kobayashi'' delayed rate-equatio ns; which describe the dynamics of an external-cavity semiconductor la ser is shown to predict low-frequency resonances in the output intensi ty spectrum of the system. Numerical simulations with control paramete r values-driving current and feedback strength-corresponding to our ex periments show excellent agreement with theory. A possible mechanism f or the occurrence of low-frequency self-oscillations is also proposed.
