Mo. Vandeventer et Aj. Boot, POLARIZATION EFFECT ON 4-WAVE-MIXING EFFICIENCY IN A SINGLE-MODE FIBER - COMMENT, IEEE journal of quantum electronics, 31(4), 1995, pp. 758-759
Dr. K. Inoue calculated the polarization properties of four-wave mixin
g in a low-birefringent fiber by treating the fiber as a random concat
enation of M pieces of polarization-maintaining fiber. Though the fina
l result is very elegant, his derivation is rather lengthy. We present
a short derivation of his equation by considering the evolution of po
larization in low-birefringent fiber as a diffusion process, and calcu
lating the probability density function of the Jones matrix for the fi
rst time.
