A convenient method for digalactosyldiacylglycerols from been develope
d using solid phase extraction. Commercial cartridges were utilized to
prepare 100 mg fractions of galactolipids containing more than 97 % o
f digalactosyldiacylglycerol. The purity of the fractions was monitore
d by an isocratic normal phase analytical HPLC procedure, which was op
timized using factorial design. The optimized system was successfully
scaled up to a semi-preparative HPLC system with a capacity of about 1
0 mg/injection which was used to further purify the digalactosyldiacyl
glycerol fraction.
