Abstract
The title compound [(C10H26N4).Cu+2.H2O].SO4(-2).3H2O[A] has been stud ied by X-ray diffraction and IR spectroscopy. It crystallized in monoc linic system, in space group P 2(1)/c, with cell dimensions of a = 8.1 28(2), b = 15.472(2), c = 15.350(2) angstrom, beta = 102.66(2)-degrees . The copper atom is five coordinated with four nitrogen atoms and one axial water molecule forming tricyclic chelated spermine complex. The chelated complex consists of two six-membered and one seven-membered rings. The seven membered ring is disordered. The amine groups from sp ermine molecule are hydrogen bonded to the sulphate anion and the wate r molecule. All water molecules form an infinitive hydrogen bonding ne twork utilizing sulphate anions as bridges. The IR analysis before and after dehydration of [A] agree with the X-ray results.
