An analytical solution is presented for the integration of elastic per
fectly-plastic constitutive equations for finite strains and rotations
with constant velocity gradients. Based on this exact solution, an ap
proximate scheme is also proposed for the integration of elastic-plast
ic and elastic-viscoplastic constitutive equations with workhardening
and noncoaxiality of the stress and the plastic strain rate tensors, u
sing the plastic-predictor and elastic-corrector method proposed by Ne
mat-Nasser [1] to integrate the scalar equation for the stress magnitu
de (effective shear stress).
