G. Weiss et al., DETERMINATION OF SULFADIMETHOXINE WITHDRAWAL TIME FROM MILK .1. DOSING, SAMPLING, AND ASSAY, Journal of AOAC International, 78(2), 1995, pp. 358-371
This study was undertaken to determine whether present regulations for
discarding milk from cows treated with sulfadimethoxine (SDM) can be
supported by modern analytical methodology, Two groups of milking cows
(10 in first group; 11 in the second) were treated orally with SDM at
the recommended dose levels for 5 days, The SDM concentration in the
milk was determined with 4 methods (Charm Inhibition Assay [CIA], Char
m II, enzyme linked immunosorbent assay, and liquid chromatography) du
ring the treatment and the subsequent withdrawal periods, The results
of the 4 assays were compared.
