A great deal of research has focused on aluminium as a putative causat
ive factor in Alzheimer's disease. We measured by atomic absorption sp
ectrophotometry aluminium levels in blood, urine and cerebrospinal flu
id from 15 patients with Alzheimer's disease, compared with 20 control
individuals. There were no statistically significant differences betw
een the two groups. This suggests that aluminium is not a causative fa
ctor for Alzheimer's disease.
