Ac. Kumbharkhane et al., DIELECTRIC-RELAXATION STUDY OF SOME SCHIFF-BASES DERIVED FROM 2-HYDROXY-5-CHLOROACETOPHENONE AND P-SUBSTITUTED ANILINES IN METHANOL SOLUTIONS, Indian journal of chemistry. Sect. A: Inorganic, physical, theoretical & analytical, 33(11), 1994, pp. 1011-1012
Static permittivities and relaxation times have been determined for fi
ve schiff bases derived from 2-hydroxy-5-chloroacetophenone and p-subs
tituted aniline in methanol solution by using a time domain reflectome
try (TDR) technique. The static permittivity decreases slightly with i
ncrease in mole concentration of the compounds in methanol. All system
s can be described by the Debye relaxation times. The study shows that
the compounds do not affect the dielectric properties of methanol sig
nificantly. This suggests that the hydrogen bonding in methanol remain
s unaffected by these agents at the concentrations considered in the p
aper.
