Abstract
RE(2)(ox>[Cu(pba)](3)[Cu(H2O)(5)] . 20H(2)O, RE = Gd, La, are molecula r materials with layered crystal structures. Low-temperature specific heat measurements show magnetic ordering on both systems. Two-dimensio nal behaviour is observed in the Gd compound, but the supression of th e Cu-RE-Cu interactions for RE = La avoids this effect.
