Abstract
A giant negative magnetoresistance (24% in a magnetic field of 30 kOe) has been found in the antiferromagnetic semiconductors xCoCr(2)S(4)-( 1 - x)CuCr1.5Sb0.5S4 (0.25 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 0.5). Magnetoresistance is practically absent in CuCr1.5Sb0.5S4 and does not exceed 2% in CoCr2S4. The compound CuCr1.5Sb0.5S4 and compou nds with Co differ radically in the value of paramagnetic Curie temper ature: theta = -156 K for the former and 45 K less than or equal to th eta less than or equal to 109 K for the latter. The giant magnetoresis tance and the positive value of a are evidence for the existence of af mons in compounds with Co.
