Measurements of magneto-optical spectra of an yttrium iron garnet samp
le doped with calcium and germanium were performed in polar Kerr geome
try at normal incidence at room and liquid-helium temperature. The res
ults at room temperature are compared with a theoretical calculation c
onsidering incoherent superposition of multiple reflections originatin
g from the two surfaces of the sample. The estimated spectrum is in go
od qualitative agreement with that observed experimentally. The presen
ce of a quantitative discrepancy is discussed.
