Abstract
Photo-induced irreversible change in an optical absorption was observe d for a bulk single crystal and a thin film of yttrium-iron garnets (Y IG) over the spectral range 700-2000 nm and over the temperature range 79-200 K. We explain the observation as a redistribution of oscillato r strength associated with structural change by an irradiation at low temperatures.
