TRITERPENE GLYCOSIDES FROM SCHEFFLERA-BODINIERI ROOTS

Four novel triterpene glycosides were isolated from the roots of Schef flera bodinieri. The structures of the compounds have been determined as 28-O-[alpha-L-rhamopyranosyl-(1 --> 4)-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 - -> 6)-]-beta-D-glucopyranoside of 3 beta-hydroxy-isopolygalic-13(14)-e ne-28-acid, 28-O-[alpha-L-rhamopyranosyl(1 --> 4)-O-beta-D-grucopyrano syl(1 --> 6)-]-beta-D-grucopyranoside of 3-oxo-isopolygalic-13(14)-ene -28-acid, 28-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl(1 --> 6)-beta-D-glucopyranoside o f 3 beta-hydroxy-isopolygalic-13(14)-ene-28-acid and 28-O[alpha-L-rham opyranosyl-(1 --> 4)-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 --> 6)-]-beta-D-glucop yranoside of 3 ta-hydroxy-18-methyl-polygalic-13(14)-ene-28-acid. The structure elucidation is based on spectroscopic data, including H-1-H- 1 COSY and C-13-H-1 COSY NMR. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd
