Mm. Moustafa, SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF SOME NEW LANTHANIDE(III) CHELATES WITH 1,4-BIS-(2'-HYDROXYPHENYLAZOMETHINE) PHENYLENE, Monatshefte fuer Chemie, 126(3), 1995, pp. 255-261
The chelates formed between 1,4-bis(2'-hydroxyphenylazomethine) phenyl
ene with La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Dy, Er, Yb, and Lu ions have been inv
estigated in solution using conductometric, potentiometric, and spectr
ophotometric methods. The studies revealed the formation of M(2)L and
ML complexes. The solid chelates have been characterized by elemental
and thermal analysis, molar conductance, IR, H-1 NMR (for La and Lu ch
elates), and electronic spectra. The bonding takes place through the c
oordination of nitrogen in the -CH=N- group and the oxygen of the hydr
oxyl group by proton displacement.
