Nm. Iyer et Ae. Farell, ADAPTIVE INPUT-OUTPUT LINEARIZING CONTROL OF A CONTINUOUS STIRRED-TANK REACTOR, Computers & chemical engineering, 19(5), 1995, pp. 575-579
In this paper, we report the application of two different parameter ad
aptation schemes used to improve the performance of input-output linea
rizing control of an exothermic continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR)
. The first technique is based on ensuring the stability of the contro
l system in the sense of Lyapunov when there are variations in the par
ameters appearing linearly in the linearizing control law. The second
approach considers recursive least squares for parameter estimation in
dependent of the control system stability. When the reactor is subject
ed to conditions of extreme parametric sensitivity and unstable operat
ing conditions in the presence of variations in the process parameters
, the parameter adaptive approach to linearizing control exhibits sati
sfactory behavior in terms of offset free regulation and improved perf
ormance.
