Abstract
Former investigation on the aseismic test for core-bottom structure in the high temperature engineering test reactor (HTTR) clarified the re sponse of acceleration, strain, impact load etc. Following this invest igation the component test of connecting elements between graphite com ponents was carried out to evaluate their fracture load and fracture m ode. The stress analysis was also performed to estimate the stress pro file by the analytical approach. The seismic design load is also estim ated by considering the load concentration factor. In this paper the e xperimental and analytical results are compared and the structural int egrity of these connecting elements is discussed under the severest ea rthquake condition postulated in the HTTR structural design.
