Abstract
Two new oleanolic acid saponins were isolated from the leaves and root s of Beta vulgaris. Both contained the unusual feature of a 3,4 seco-g lycopyranosyl moiety. Their structures were established by a combinati on of 2D NMR experiments and of Californium plasma desorption mass spe ctrometry.
