Ocean spectral peaks extracted from synthetic aperture radar (SAR) ima
gery exhibit a wavenumber rotation and shift relative to the true peak
s due to attenuation of the high azimuth wavenumbers. We develop an ap
proximate analytical model allowing a correction to the rotation and s
hift of SAR spectral peaks. This model maybe useful for spectral peak
correction when R/V less than or equal to 60 s whereas; for RIV > 60 s
, a portion of the wave images are strongly nonlinear for which this m
odel is not valid.
