A 60-year-old male patient developed progressive wound ulcerations, si
mulating wound sepsis after coronary bypass operation. The condition d
id not respond to intensive antibiotic therapy, Based on clinical sign
s and biopsy, the diagnosis of pyoderma gangrenosum was made and succe
ssfully treated with cyclosporin A. Pyoderma gangrenosum, although ext
remely rare, must be considered as a possible diagnosis in wound compl
ications unresponsive to traditional therapy.
