Sy. Tsai et Th. Hsu, THERMAL TRANSPORT OF A CONTINUOUS MOVING PLATE IN A NON-NEWTONIAN FLUID, Computers & mathematics with applications, 29(6), 1995, pp. 99-108
The phenomena of conjugate convection-conduction heat transfer of a no
n-Newtonian fluid on a continuous moving flat plate were investigated
numerically. The self-induced forced convection heat transfer in this
study reveals some significantly different characteristics. Of particu
lar interest were the effects of power-law viscosity index, generalize
d Prandtl number, and material parameter on the heat transfer characte
ristics and temperature distribution on the plate. The temperature lev
el is found to decay gradually with distance along the moving surface.
The local Nusselt number increases monotonically with the distance an
d eventually attains a constant value. The skin friction coefficient o
n the wall displays quite different features for the present fluids.
