C. Medda et al., EFFECT OF ROTENONE ON ACTIVITY OF SOME ENZYMES AND THEIR RECOVERY IN FRESH-WATER CARP FINGERLINGS OF LABEO-ROHITA, Journal of environmental biology, 16(1), 1995, pp. 55-60
Effect of a sublethal concentration (0.1 ppm) of rotenone (C23H22O6) o
n the activities of alkaline phosphatase (ALP), acid phosphatase (ACP)
, alanine and aspartate aminotransferase (ALT & AST) of liver and gill
s of the fingerlings of Labeo rohita for the period 3, 7 and 14 days a
nd their subsequent recovery following withdrawals of fish from exposu
re to rotenone for 7 days were studied. Significant elevation of the e
nzyme activities of the liver and gill tissues was observed with incre
asing period of exposure. During recovery period, enzyme activity in l
iver showed a significant increase but in gill tissue a decline was ob
served.
