A study has been made of the solubility of ferrocene and ferrocenyldim
ethylcarbinol in paraffinic, aromatic, olefinic and naphthenic hydroca
rbons. The solubility of ferrocene in saturated hydrocarbons depends l
ittle on the nature of the solvents, while the solubility of ferroceny
l-dimethylcarbinol increases from hexane to octane, Considerably highe
r solubility of the ferrocenes studied is observed in aromatic and in
olefinic solvents. The thermodynamic parameters of the dissolution of
ferrocenes in organic solvents contained in various grades of gasoline
have been assessed. The solubility of ferrocene and fenocenyldimethyl
carbinol in gasolines of different grades at various temperatures has
been studied.
