Abstract
Skin-derived antileukoproteinase, also described as elafin or as elast ase specific inhibitor, is a serine proteinase inhibitor which is thou ght to play a regulatory role in inflammation. Research in the last fe w years has increased our knowledge on the structural, biochemical, an d cell biological aspects of this molecule. Here we will review the mo st relevant literature presently available on this proteinase inhibito r.
