J. Nayyer et al., MODULATION CHARACTERISTICS OF HIGH-SPEED OPTICAL MODULATORS WITH PROPERLY SPLIT ASYMMETRY INTO THEIR MACH-ZEHNDER ARMS, Electronics Letters, 31(5), 1995, pp. 387-388
Successful fabrication of high-speed asymmetric lithium niobate modula
tors is reported. The frequency chirping and half-wave drive voltage c
an be adjusted via the extent of the asymmetry. The degradation of the
extinction ratio is shown to be avoidable as the consequence of prope
rly split asymmetry on to the Mach-Zehnder arms.
