Abstract
When dealing with industrial systems, standard estimation algorithms b ased on recursive least squares are often unable to provide satisfacto ry performances; this is due to iii-conditioning of the least squares problem. When use is made of enhanced schemes based on orthogonal tran sformations combined with cautious least squares, better use can be ma de of available information.
