Abstract
Streamwise turbulence spectra in the vicinity of a porous windbreak ar e presented. These clearly illustrate the effect of a windbreak which reduces the low frequency turbulence in the flow passing through the w indbreak but also results in the generation of high frequency turbulen ce in the flow passing over the windbreak. It is suggested that the fr equencies of the generated turbulence are related to the velocity grad ients in the region where generation occurs.
