Abstract
Based on interviews with 180 women in Ube, Japan, and 200 woman in Mai nz, Germany, the authors report on different opinions on reproductive medicine, with particular reference to abortion. In the light of the h istorical German-Japanese legal relationship, the latest ruling of the Bundesverfassungsgericht on abortion is discussed, with some remarks from J. Reiter on its social ethics.
