Abstract
The relative magnitudes of laser-induced fluorescence at H-alpha and H -beta when a hydrogen plasma is pumped at the H-alpha transition have been measured as a function of electron density in a small tokamak pla sma. The measurement differ, by a small but significant amount, from t he predictions of a collisional radiative mode. A range of possible re asons for the discrepancy are discussed.
