We study doubly excited Ne8+ ions in the context of double electron ca
pture during the Ne10+ + He collision. We focus on the strongly intera
cting Ne8+ (4,4) and Ne8+ (3,n) series which are located in th Ne9+ (n
= 3) threshold region. First, we study the properties of Rydberg stat
es belonging to (3, n) multiplets and (4,4) symmetrical states, on the
basis of the Feshbach approach and L(2) discretization method. Positi
ons, widths and couplings are calculated for the isolated Ne8+ ion. Th
en we analyse the post-collisional system Ne8+ + He2+ on the basis of
the atomic parameters previously calculated and using the close-coupli
ng approach. Emphasis will be put on the study of the transfer of Ne8 (4,4) states to Ne8+ (3,n) Rydberg series and the resulting stabiliza
tion (radiative de-excitation) and autoionization processes.
