Abstract
Permanganate and manganate ions were evaluated as dehydrogenating agen ts in the conversion of 2-substituted 2-imidazolines into the correspo nding 2-substituted imidazoles. It was found that permanganate ion [Mn (VII)] in dry dioxane efficiently performs this transformation renderi ng this method competitive with related procedures.
